Create Healthy Relationships.  

In the month of December, each week I will share more about creating your own individual healthy SHINE foundation.  There are 5 key areas: {S} is Self Love, {H} is Healthy Relationships, {I} is Inspiration and Adventure, {N} is Natural Nutrition and {E} is Exercise and Energy.  

I believe having a healthy LIFE foundation is important; everything is connected. This week, I am sharing more about Healthy Relationships, the {H} in sHine.

Years ago, when I was about 90 pounds and checked myself into an Eating Disorder Clinic looking for healthy support, what I didn’t realize is that it truly wasn’t all about the food.  The eating disorder was a combination of MANY unhealthy relationships in my life; it was an unhealthy relationship with food (calorie restriction), an unhealthy relationship with exercise (over exercise), unhealthy personal relationships (toxic personal relationship and disconnection from friends and family), unhealthy relationship with my career (overworked, stressed out and disinterested in my job), and an unhealthy relationship with myself and my body (sadly, a huge lack of self love).

From my own personal journey working through many unhealthy life related relationships, I’ve realized the importance of focusing on the MANY areas of your life to not only create a healthier YOU, but to also create more balance, joy and happiness in your life.

Healthy relationships start with YOU. Creating awareness around the following areas is key to creating an overall healthy relationship with yourself which brings us back to self love (which I talked about in week one).

Healthy Relationships – Reflection for YOUR Naturalita Self

Please do this exercise! It’s FREE and beneficial, but only if you put pen to paper and write it all down.

Write down the Healthy Relationship areas below. Ask yourself the following three questions in each of the areas.  I recommend using a personal journal to free write and reflect.  This is for YOU.

 

  • What does a Healthy Relationship look like for you in this area?
  • How would you currently rate this area on a scale of 1-5, 1=needs love, 5=love filled.  Why did you rate it this way?
  • What are 1-2 ACTION steps you can take this week to work on creating a healthier relationship in this area?

  • Self
  • Body
  • Partner
  • Friends
  • Family
  • Food
  • Exercise
  • Career/Work
  • Other

 

This Naturalita Reflection could be something you do to check in with yourself weekly or monthly.  I would do this at least monthly.  Maybe it’s the first of the month, 15th, or last day of the month.  You have the power to schedule it, so schedule your Naturalita Healthy Relationship Reflection time.
