Do You Believe in Yourself?

Do You Believe in Yourself?

Do You Believe in Yourself?

I’m working to be more vulnerable and share more personal things in my writing. I’m really good at keeping a lot of thoughts internally, so as a part of my personal growth and development, I’ll be sharing more about me to connect with my tribe to hopefully help empower others to share and connect more.

Are you afraid to put yourself out there?

Are you hesitant to share your (sometimes unknown) gifts and dreams with the world?

I AM.

I’ve been wanting to write more, blog more, write articles, create consistent and valuable newsletters for my tribe, create short videos, create an online e-course, plan wellness retreats, write an ebook and one day, MAYBE write a real book…but honestly, not sure what is stopping me from just sitting down to get started and staying consistent.

One of my goals for the year was to write more and for blogging, blog 3-5 times per week. I made a list of topics, ideas, thoughts and…nothing.  This is the first blog post I have written in 2016.  (It’s January 15th.)

Honestly, I know what is stopping me: MYSELF. But, WHY am I stopping myself?

I’m not one that is afraid to dream or set big goals, in fact, I feel like I set them all of the time, but I feel (and know) I rarely take REAL action toward achieving them.

Who am I to achieve my goals and dreams?

This quote, by the lovely Marianne Williamson, has come up about 3+ times this week, and it’s one of my favorite all time quotes:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’

Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
― Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of “A Course in Miracles”

I don’t know how many times I’ve shared that quote with friends, clients, coaches, students, on social media, in newsletters…but you see, there’s a different between sharing it and TRULY believing in it, more so believing in YOURSELF, or in my case, believing in MYSELF.

Personally, I believe it has more to do than believing in myself; it takes having FAITH in myself.  Just because you believe in yourself, doesn’t mean you have faith that everything will workout.

A powerful equation combines both BELIEF and FAITH.  Your personal religion doesn’t matter, but you need to both believe and have faith.  They go hand in hand if you truly want to be the best version of yourself.

That stated, I knowingly have been lacking in both of those areas.  I find it much easier to believe in others and their dreams, have faith in them, but not myself.  When truly, I should do what I tell others and to focus on YOU (me) first and others will benefit and be inspired to take charge and believe and have faith in themselves.

As Marianne Williamson shared, “…as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”

In full disclosure, this card is in the current book I am reading for my own personal development. This is a reminder that knowledge is not power until you take action, believe and have faith in those actions. I can see this every day, but until I truly believe it and have faith in myself, it’s just another flicker of inspiration that is lost or devalued.

“Knowledge is NOT power. Knowledge is only potential power. Action is power.”

-Tony Robbins

I’m curious…

What are some areas in your life where you would like to take ACTION?

What do you feel is holding you back?

I’m honestly wondering if others can relate to this and what you feel is holding you back from being the best version of yourself.

I think for me, being open and honest with myself is the first step, the second, well is REAL belief, faith and ACTION.

    • Rachael – Oh my! Yes, I’m glad I did share! Do you feel that you are able to put more faith behind your beliefs and trust the process? What do you think will be helpful for you? The Marianne Williamson quote is one of my favorites. I need to *finally* put it up in my office. Thank you for the comment. I would love to see how you start believing and having more faith in your life. I’ll share more on my journey, too!
