Simple Equation to Achieve Your Health Goals
Everyone is different. Our bodies, lifestyles, nutritional needs and goals are all different. The beauty of being so different is that no matter where you’re at in your own personal health journey, there’s a simple equation that’s helpful in achieving your health and wellness goals.
Fitness + Nutrition + Support = Success
There’s definitely more to creating a healthy YOU life foundation; EVERYTHING in life is connected. However, it can be difficult to focus on doing everything at one time. I like to simplify the process, so let’s start with fitness and nutrition first.
Each month, I coach online “Healthy YOU” groups where we focus on each part of the equation, here’s how:
- Fitness: Choose a fitness plan that works for your body and lifestyle
- Nutrition: Follow a simple whole food based nutrition plan that is paired with your chosen workout program
- Superfoods: Upgrade your nutrition with a powerful all natural superfood filled shake
- Support: Receive daily support and motivation in a positive friendly online community
The monthly Healthy YOU groups that I coach are in partnership with my Beachbody business. We start by focusing on the Natural Nutrition and Exercise areas from my Naturalita S.H.I.N.E.™ Foundation. (S.H.I.N.E.=Self Love, Healthy Relationships, Inspiration, Natural Nutrition, Exercise and Energy) I love (and use) the Beachbody fitness programs and the whole foods focused nutrition plans; Shakeology (the superfood + protein wellness shake) is initially what made me fall in love with the company.
Below will help you understand a little more of what goes on in my monthly Healthy YOU groups. This can also help you figure out your own personal plan to understand what you need for your personal plan to make positive progress.
Finding a fitness program that works for your body and your lifestyle is important to help get you started or to continue to transform and challenge your body and mind. I can help you do this! Some questions to ponder are:

- What types of exercise do you enjoy?
- What have you enjoyed in the past for exercise?
- What are your personal fitness goals?
- Do you have any injuries or restrictions?
- What feels good on your body?
- How much time do you want to exercise a day?
Beachbody on Demand (BOD) – All Access is a newer program that I’ve fallen in love with. It’s online access to ALL Beachbody workout programs, nutrition plans, workout calendars, healthy cooking shows, yoga programs, plus you have access to over 500+ workouts. With All Access you can try out different workouts to determine the best fit for you, your body and your goals. You can access your workouts and additional resources on Beachbody on Demand from your smartphone, laptop, desktop, smart TV, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Firestick and more.
All programs come with a custom workout calendar paired with a balanced nutrition guide. The All Access Challenge Pack also comes with Shakeology, a yearly subscription to Beachbody on Demand (BOD), and the “Portion Fix” ( which includes the 7-piece portion control container set, healthy eating guide, large blue travel/storage container & shaker cup). Standard Challenge Pack: If you’re looking for a specific workout program and prefer dvds, that’s also an option! We can discuss what makes the most sense for you and your personal situation. The standard challenge pack comes with one workout program on dvds, nutrition guide, workout calendar, and one month supply of Shakeology. There are a variety of challenge packs to choose from here.
Personally, I like to do workout programs from start to finish and then once complete, I start a new program for variety and a different challenge for my body. Right now, I’m completing the 21 Day Fix Extreme as I’m working out of my home gym, so I have all of my weights. I’ll be traveling out of the country soon, so will switch to a workout program that doesn’t use weights. I love that I can take BOD on the road with me wherever I go. I’m still deciding what program I’ll do or if I’ll create my own custom program. It might be a mix of running, PiYo and Core de Force.
When it comes to nutrition there are SO MANY THOUGHTS and ideas out there. It’s overwhelming, I totally understand that. I’ve tried a lot of different styles of eating on my body from the blood type diet, ayurvedic eating, many cleanses, vegan, raw vegan, and Paleo (to name a few). I’ve also been overly obsessed with calorie counting and learned what NOT to do for my body and my health the hard way.
With everything I’ve tried on my body, I’ve found whole natural foods always works best. Personally, I can’t have gluten or dairy and have been (strictly) gluten free for about ten years and dairy free for most of my life. I also have some other odd food sensitivities, so I have to be aware of what I eat, but I do it in a healthy way.
What I love about the Beachbody nutrition plans is they focus on whole food nutrition, simple portion control and incorporate all food groups. In each nutrition guide, you:
- Learn which foods are advised for each eating category (which is separated into colors)
- Are given an expansive list of healthy whole foods to choose from, healthiest/most nutrient dense are at the top of the list
- Receive simple healthy recipes to give you ideas on what to eat and make
- Determine your personal nutrition level (how much to eat for your goals and body)
The nutrition plans are created by Sports Nutritionists. Another benefit of these nutrition plans is that there are many recipes out on the internet created by other coaches and participants, so you definitely have a variety of recipes, ideas and inspiration to keep you eating healthy. Plus, with Beachbody on Demand, you also have access to a healthy cooking show, Fixate, as well as the Fixate cookbook, for more healthy eating support on your own personal journey.
Shakeology is another important part of the nutrition for my Healthy YOU groups. It’s also part of my personal healthy eating plan. I get a lot of questions about Shakeology! I find that people are either excited to try it, nervous, or convince themselves that they don’t like “shakes”. Shakeology isn’t just a “shake” or just a “protein shake” it’s actually a total wellness superfood filled + protein shake. Wanna research it and see all of the ingredients? Shakeology is packed with globally sourced superfood ingredients, which includes, but not limited to:

Personally, I drink the vegan as I have a lot of food sensitivities and it works great with my body. Vegan chocolate is my personal favorite and I also drink the Tropical Strawberry Vegan as well.
Shakeology comes in both whey and vegan protein formulas and there are a variety of flavors to choose from, which is great. When ordering, first, choose which type of protein you would like and then what flavor or flavors you want to try. Even with all of the tools to be successful on your personal Healthy YOU journey, an often missed step in the equation is finding the appropriate support. This also includes a supportive community to help you move forward and stay committed to your journey. The support is priceless. Plus, you can also support others, too!
Each month, I coach an online support group for those who have committed to themselves and their personal health journey. This includes access to an online private group on Facebook and also access to the My Challenge Tracker app. The My Challenge Tracker app can be accessed from your smartphone (you get a personal invitation from me, your coach, when joining in).
Many people join in and continue with the groups each month as they love the positive support and motivation from the community. Some even love the group so much, they decide to join my team and become a coach to help support others even more! I love checking in with my groups to see them shining on their own personal journey. Plus, I’m always participating and sharing where I’m at in my own journey. (It never stops!)
We all need support in one way or another; it looks different for everyone. The beauty of these groups is we’re always learning from each other while supporting each other, which is an important part of this community.
Success looks and feels different for everyone. One thing I love to do is have everyone in my groups complete a Healthy YOU Goals sheet when starting their journey. It helps you start with the end in mind, but take it 28 days at a time so it’s easier to break everything down into small realistic action steps.
Each week, we focus on positive accomplishments, wins, how everyone is feeling and where you might need additional support. For those that want to weigh in and track their measurements, it’s an opportunity to check in with where you’re at weekly. (You can also track this in the online app, too.)
