Which Exercise (and Nutrition) Program is Best for YOU?

What I have found is that you usually aren’t paired with the right fitness program for your individual needs and goals AND a simple nutrition program that you can actually stick with. Additional support is also the missing link in the follow through and progress toward your goals. Sadly, we often give up on ourselves way before someone else gives up on us, so the additional support is always a positive push to keep moving forward. Do you agree?
I’ve tried a lot of fitness programs, in fact, I used to be a gym rat and spent hours a day at the gym. However, one thing that’s changed over the years is that I’ve gotten a lot more efficient with my time, found a healthy eating and balanced nutrition plan that works for me AND I no longer spend hours at the gym or waste time commuting. In fact, I never thought I would ever change my “gym rat” habits, but now I only work out from home. Yep, in my basement.
I’ve been passionate about healthy eating and exercise for 13+ years and in the past couple of years, I have tried many at home fitness programs and also coach online healthy eating and fitness groups online as a part of my Naturalita coaching. Why? Because they work, I believe in them and have seen others achieve success where the traditional gym route or figuring it out on their own didn’t work. Plus my “healthy” community and “fit family” has grown (all over the US and Canada).
Lately, I have been getting a lot of questions as to which program to start with; I’ve shared my personal thoughts below.
Here are my top 4 favorite Beachbody fitness programs and what I love about each program so you can choose which one would be best for you to get started! There are more programs to choose from, but honestly, these are my favorites. Yes, I am a coach and I do earn a small commission from these products; however, I also provide you with support and accountability to keep you moving forward to your goals. You don’t pay any more buying the same items from me or another coach or Beachbody corporate, it just connects you with a coach that is going to support you on your journey. Fitness + Nutrition + Support = Success
The four programs below are all listed as “Challenge Packs”, which is your “at home health and fitness success kit.” All “Challenge Pack” programs come with the fitness dvds, nutrition guide, workout calendar, a month supply of Shakeology and access to a private online group with daily coaching from your chosen coach.
PiYo is a 60 day low-impact, high-intensity body-transformation program. It uses the most effective Pilates and yoga inspired moves at a fast pace to help you burn fat while you sculpt long, lean muscles.
Fitness Level: Beginner to Advanced
What I love about it: PiYo is great for making your body FEEL amazing, stretching your body in ways that feel great and strengthening your muscles while using only your body weight. It helped define my core, arms (hello PiYo push-ups and triceps) and stretched out my body. It’s a faster pace than yoga, which I like, as I desire to sweat and move a little more than in traditional yoga.
Best for: Anyone at any age! It’s also GREAT for runners and stretching out your overused leg muscles, hip flexors, and also for working the ENTIRE body. It’s also wonderful for those wanting to FEEL good during their workout, those who don’t like to jump a lot and also those who want to build a stronger overall foundation in their body.

21 Day Fix

What I love: I LOVE the container system, it’s so simple and has helped me get consistent with balanced healthy eating and most importantly feel balanced IN my body. It’s all about balancing your macronutrients and getting in your micronutrients, too. The containers truly work. No counting calories, no weighing foods either. The 30 minute workouts are challenging and still great for anyone at any level. You’ll be surprised at what changes your body will achieve and also how much stronger you will get within 21 days. It’s 30 minutes a day, that’s it, no more than that. No time is wasted at the gym figuring out what to do and when to do it.
Best for: Those that want to create consistent healthy habits 21 days at a time. If you want to lose weight, tone up and/or gain healthy weight, this is a great program. Even if you already eat healthy or if you have NO CLUE where to start, the portion control containers are amazing and will help out a lot. I recommend that everyone starts with this program FIRST to start creating a strong and healthy foundation with your eating and for your body.

21 Day Fix Extreme
The original 21 Day Fix was designed to make losing weight so simple . . . you never had to diet again. The 21 Day Fix EXTREME was created to get you shredded in the shortest time possible. This 21-day fitness and nutrition program combines simple portion control, clean eating, and extreme 30-minute workouts to help you finally get the lean, defined hardbody you’ve always wanted. ONLY 30 minutes a day.
Fitness Level: Intermediate to Advanced. Great for 21 Day Fix graduates or those that have already completed another Beachbody program like Insanity, P90X series or currently active in other fitness programs.
What I love: I love the challenge of the workouts and that there is NO NEED to do more than 30 minute workouts daily. The Countdown to Competition nutrition plan is amazing (carb cycling). I was able to increase my weights (and muscle tone) in a short period of time. It’s simple to follow and effective. You will definitely get your sweat on in 30 minutes and will not feel the need to workout more, in fact, that might hinder your results, so stick to the plan.
Best for: Those that are looking for extreme results in a short amount of time and looking for a new challenge. If you are preparing for a big event (wedding, class reunion, Spring break, vacation, etc.) and want to tone up, try a new eating plan, get focused on your nutrition and take your fitness to the next level, then this program is perfect for you.
Equipment needed: Yoga mat, exercise band (30lb), light, medium and heavy weights. 30 minute workouts.

Master’s Hammer and Chisel
The Master’s Hammer and Chisel is a 60 day innovative resistance training system that incorporates three muscle-sculpting phases—Stabilization, Strength, and Power—or SSP Training. Other workouts only focus on one or two phases, which might give you decent results. The Master’s Hammer and Chisel program incorporates all three methods to help you relentlessly chip away fat and carve every muscle for a strong, visually stunning body in 60 days.
Fitness Level: Intermediate to Advanced.
What I love: I LOVE the challenge, weights and variety of this program. I also love that the nutrition program is similar to the 21 Day Fix/Extreme programs, so it makes the progression from program to program easier. I have ben adding weight each workout as well as SEE and FEEL the difference right away. It’s not an easy program, but not super hard either. I make it harder by pushing myself harder and adding more weight.
Best for: Great for 21 Day Fix/21 Day Fix Extreme graduates, Cross-Fit enthusiasts, if you are already active 5-7 days week, and those that have completed other advanced Beachbody programs.
Those that LOVE a challenge and are looking to get defined and build muscle or lean out will also love this program. It’s a 60 day program. It’s also great for endurance athletes that are cross training and want to get their nutrition in check to not only tone up, but feel great.
Equipment needed: Yoga mat, light, medium and heavy weights (a large variety), exercise resistance band, weight bench or stability ball, pull-up bar or exercise band with door connector.

Which program do you want to start with?
If you have NOT done the 21 Day Fix, I always recommend starting with that one first to learn the nutrition part of the program, especially if you are just starting out in a consistent daily fitness program. Message me here and we can figure out what would be the best program for YOU and your individual needs.
NUTRITION IS KEY: Remember, fitness is about 20-30% of your results, with healthy eating and balanced nutrition being your NATURAL KEY ingredient (70-80%). The portion control systems (colored containers) and nutrition guides that come with each program are super simple to follow and very helpful (essential) in helping you create healthy lifestyle habits and positive changes.
Most gym memberships cost $$$ (a lot), working with a personal trainer can cost more $$$$ and a nutritionist, additional $$$, and I don’t think any of them come with a money back guarantee and daily support and accountability, and healthy eating guidance in a private online group.
Creating a healthier lifestyle has helped me create more confidence in all areas of my life, the hardest part can be getting started and choosing to stay consistent. With a proven simple system, healthy eating, group support and daily motivation, you have additional accountability to keep you committed and not part of the 70% that quit.
